It's My Life

Exams over, but no respite in sight

I went for a free eye screening today on campus. I suspect the intent was more about NUH trying to get students and staff to sign up for lasik surgery at “promotional rates” rather than truly about our eye health. Well, at least I’m more or less assured that I’m not going blind anytime soon.

Since I was at the medical center, I thought I might as well get a flu jab and lung test to see whether I am having asthma or COPD. The result, according to the doctor, was inconclusive. I am being put on a month-long steroid therapy to see if my condition improves. Whee.

Then, I met my boss for a short update on my project. She kind of insinuated that I did some of the work hastily and didn’t do a very good job. I was kind of offended, as I had really put effort into everything I did and I think it probably was more like she didn’t really bother to consider all the unwarranted difficulties and hardship I’ve been put on just to do those mundane stuff for her during my study week when I’m supposed to be studying for my exams. She even suggested that I redo everything (about 80 – 90 hours worth of work!). As far as I am concerned this is human rights abuse. Then again, how many bosses actually think about problems from their subordinates’ perspectives?

Oh, and I got another rejection letter today from another (ex) potential employer.

The exams are over, but I am not getting any rest yet, with project work to do for the entire duration of my vacation.

I’m sick and tired of being treated like an insignificant ant without any rights, feelings or identity.
