Consider - the appalling rate at which the government is giving out citizenship and PR status to foreigners - it makes being Singaporean not much different from being a foreign worker with a few years of tenure here since they enjoy most or all of the benefits we do.

Hi Dear, You did not get the point here. The Person "Kewleyes" has mention see below:
==============================
This is why you need foreigners in Singapore.

.. foreigners who will collect you garbage everyday

… foreigners who’s working night and day, rain or shine in construction sites.

… foreigners who’s taking care of children, clean your house, do all household chores
================================

Now you see the things mentioned in the statistics of the Singapore (Ministry):

According to government statistics, the population of Singapore as of 2008 was 4.84 million, of whom 3.64 million were Singaporean citizens and permanent residents (termed "Singapore Residents").[71] Various Chinese linguistic groups formed 75.2% of Singapore's residents, Malays 13.6%, Indians 8.8%, while Eurasians, Arabs and other groups formed 2.4%.

In 2006 the crude birth rate stood at 10.1 per 1000, a very low level attributed to birth control policies, and the crude death rate was also one of the lowest in the world at 4.3 per 1000. The total population growth was 4.4% with Singapore residents growth at 1.8%. The higher percentage growth rate is largely from net immigration, but also increasing life expectancy. Singapore is the second-most densely populated independent country in the world after Monaco. In 1957, Singapore's population was approximately 1.45 million, and there was a relatively high birth rate. Aware of the country's extremely limited natural resources and small territory, the government introduced birth control policies in the late 1960s. In the late 1990s, the population was aging, with fewer people entering the labour market and a shortage of skilled workers. In a dramatic reversal of policy, the Singapore government introduced a "baby bonus" scheme in 2001 (enhanced in August 2004) that encouraged couples to have more children.[72]

In 2006, the total fertility rate was only 1.26 children per woman, the 3rd lowest in the world and well below the 2.10 needed to replace the population.[73] In 2006, 38,317 babies were born, compared to around 37,600 in 2005. This number, however, is not sufficient to maintain the population's growth. To overcome this problem, the government is encouraging foreigners to immigrate to Singapore. These large numbers of immigrants have kept Singapore's population from declining.[74

NOW YOU SEE HOW FOREINGN IMMIGRANTS ARE DOING GOOD HERE IN SINGAPORE. SO PLEASE Mr.Kewleyes take your words back.

Thanks Alot

Foreigners are required in Singapore because main Singaporean are not having enough capacity and education to handle tough international situations. Foreigners are the main peoples who are contributing to this very tiny place(island) where govt has given ample space for the foreign industries to set up their space. Now since Foreign companies have made setup, Singapore doesnot have enough manpower to work and contribute technology assistant. So here comes the necessity of foreign people to come IN. If Foreign people wouldn't have come IN Singapore, Singapore Govt wouldn't have fulfill the promises of providing good services to their technologies etc etc. So please do not say foreigners are BAD or they are just to collect your GARBAGE. Even i have seen our Chinese Races are also picking up Garbage in Singapore. It is a concrete example during this recession when foreigners left Singapore, there is a drastic loss on the GDP growth and money exchange. Also survey shows Foreigners have more Capacity to Purchase than Singaporeans. So this makes money exchange and economic development. Singapore and Singaporeans are fully dependent on outside world and companies. We have very very limited resources like efficient new technologies manpower, natural resources, our own buildup companies etc etc... so any thing is coming up is the only from outside world. Take example of all the foreign banks they have hired mainly all people, this is only because when they see any Singaporeans are competent they have hired, they feel shortage of competent, then Govt started providing outside people to come and work on EP, Work Pass etc etc...

So try to understand first the main reason Govt has established foreign people to come inside, it is just for Singaporeans to survive properly and Singapore Govt can achieve something.

Please try to save all bad words about foreingners...

thanks
